Hi,
My name is Alias, I am a 16 year old male High School student in need of some Christian advice on some problems I am going through. This is an embarrassing topic to get advice on but I am to embarrassed to get help from my parents or anyone else. I feel that this would be the easiest way and least embarrassing way to get help on the subject. I need to know if masterbation is a sin. I have been unsure of the answer so I have been playing it safe and avoiding it the best I can. Its not like my hormones are going to turn off so I am constantly haveing to fight off the temptation. It is a non-stop battle and a very dificult one at that. I feel that if substaining from masterbation is what Jesus wants me to do then I can continue on with this on going battle but since this is such a very dificult thing to do I really should find out what Jesus wants me to do about masterbation. Plese send some sctipture as well because I only let Jesus be the final say in my decisions but please support the scripture you send or decipher it in your own words because some times I dont understand the scripture my selfe or it takes me a while to decipher it. _________________ People are naturally evil. Greetings.
I am a Christian Family counsellor and I will answer your question.
This is no embarrassing topic. It is a very real issue with many; both male and female.
First of all, to want to know if it is a sin, the answer is a definite YES.
Here are the spiritual reasons:
Jesus said that it is not about the outside but the inside of us that has to be clean. So when you are into the act of prayer, what goes on in the head? The fantasy of a nude woman/man? The fantasy of you making love with another?
What causes you to act? Lustful desires within you for someone?
These are the sinful causes.
To overcome masutrbation is never too difficult for God. Infact He has already given us the tool to it. He will help you. What you need to do is that the next time the urge to pray arises in you, JUST PICK UP A BIBLE AND READ. It does not matter what you should read but just keep reading on any of its pages - For the Word of God is sharper than any thing in this world and it could easily KILL your desire.
Trust me. It works for many teenagers and even adults that I have counselled to on this issue.
God bless.

Hi kueh,
If one can pray without fantasising, then I don't think it's sinful.
