Our church is having a "Trunk or Treat" to give out candy & an invitation/information to become a child of God.
The church kids will get whatever candy remains.
In this way I feel we are turning a satanic holiday around for Christ, to spread the Good News.
Cool

yea our church has things too to turn evil for good like fall festivals and candy handouts for kids and lots of other things, this year we are having a skit played by our youth about what the "Holy GHOST" is (alot dont know and kids get scared when they hear ghost or spirit) with refreshments and candy handouts
and i think things like that is good to try to get people to be a part of what the church is doin instead of the worldly things

LOL Didn't carving a pumpkin use to have a symbolic, Christian meaning? I thought I read that somewhere. I'll have to look that up. I'm curious now.

i see nothing wrong with the "harvest" and "fall/ autumn" type decorations . . . but, when it comes to the witches, harry potter, etc
things like that just dont agree with my spirit or what i read in the Bible so me and mine stay away from it, actually we just got some carving pumpkins today and was gonna carve them come monday and make pumpkin pie out of the guts n seeds
o n u were talkin bout the symbolic thing well i got this prayer that we are doin maybe this is what u r talkin about:

DEAR GOD AS I CARVE THIS PUMPKIN HELP ME SAY THIS PRAYER
OPEN MY MIND SO I CAN LEARN ABOUT YOU
cut the top of the pumpkin
TAKE AWAY ALL MY SIN AND FORGIVE ME OF THE WRONG THINGS I DO
clean out the inside
OPEN MY EYES SO YOUR LOVE I WILL SEE
cut the eyes out in heart shapes
I AM SO SORRY FOR TURNING UP MY NOSE TO ALL YOU'VE GIVEN ME
cut the nose in the shape of a cross
OPEN MY EARS SO YOUR WORD I WILL HEAR
cut the ears shaped like the Bible
OPEN MY MOUTH SO I CAN TELL OTHERS YOU'RE NEAR
cut the mouth in the shape of a fish
LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE IN ALL I SAY AND DO AMEN
place a candle inside and light it
