I think dating is fine. I don't think it should be a means of getting sex though. In the Song of Solomon; Solomon dates a girl; then courts her; then marries her. I think dating helps us learn how to have a deeper relationship with others. We make a lot of mistakes dating; we learn from them. Dating, in a way, is also our way of trying to find God's mate for us. Unfortunately, a beam of light doesn't just shine down on our future wife/husband. So we need a way of finding them.
I've been on a total of 3 dates. None of them have even resulted in a goodbye handshake, so I don't think dating leads to sex. I think people's own choices lead to that. Some people aren't capable of making mature choices, so they shouldn't date until they can. But I don't think we should just lump dating as a whole into the bad pile.

wonderer dont you think we could find God's mate for us with out dating people waste their time with dating because most date with out ever intending to really get married to the person they are dating

nice point, but, I make sure I know a person fairly well before I date them. And if I can't see myself having a future with them then I don't date them.
But that's just me
