This subject reared its head the other night in a chat room, in particular the insistance of some that Mary was the mother of God.
I dont share this view believing that Mary was the earthly vessel of our Saviour, God the Son. She is mentioned only a few times in the Gospels so we are left to imagine much.
As Jesus was there at the foundation of the World, with God and a part of God, to me the logic breaks down when start to proclaim her 'Mother of God'
Just wondering what others think on this subject.

Hi Helen,
I believe Mary carried God in her womb, and gave birth to God. I think that qualifies her to be called the mother of God.

Jesus said, For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
Vicki saying that Mary was the earthly mother of Jesus - ie: he lay in her womb, and she gave birth to him, is different from proclaiming that she is his mother in heaven, she was not there at the foundation of the World and we know that Christ has been there for eternity.
Whilst we acknowledge her wonderful example of faith and obedience, of enthusiasm and love for God, I dont believe it is accurate to call her the mother of God, was she also mother to Spirit and Father too ?
